“My wish for the women in the Catholic Church is that they be recognized as equal partners and collaborators in the mission of Jesus Christ. I wish that it may be acknowledged that religious and lay women have played a vital role in the areas of education, in faith formation, health and Pastoral ministry. I’m no longer staying silent about men, including clergy, underestimating the potential of women in various areas of ministry. We live in an Islamic culture where there’s much evidence of male domination and this seems to affect the mentality of our clergy. I am sharing this because I am thinking of the people we serve. In a place where there’s segregation of male and female I feel that women can be accessed and enriched more easily by women ministers than men priests. Men and women complement each other. This can be so in the Church if women are seen as equals.”
