Sister Mary Doris

Blauvelt Dominican Sister

"Mercy, for me, is the desire to love and serve others, fired by the Gift of Faith in God's abiding love in my life."

Sister Mary of the Bronx, New York, along with her Blauvelt Dominican Sisters, ministers to oppressed, pregnant, homeless women, restoring their personal dignity.

At Siena House she prepares women to build productive lives outside of the shelter, equipping them with the tools for success.  She believes that music is at the heart of humanity with the capacity to inspire and transform. Among her various programs is a project with Carnegie Hall that helps the mothers to recognize the beauty and honor of motherhood, reaching deep within themselves to create “something beautiful” for their unborn babies by writing them lullabies of love and hope.
