General Manager, Voices of Faith
Position Title: General Manager
Start Date: As soon as possible
Position Type: Consultant contract
Location: Rome, Italy
Direct Report: Managing Director, Chantal Goetz
Voices of Faith:
Voices of Faith (VOF) is a flagship initiative by the Fidel Götz Foundation, a charitable trust supporting Catholic humanitarian projects since 1969. The initiative seeks to empower and advocate for women to be in leadership and decision making roles within the Catholic Church.
VOF started in 2014 as a storytelling event on International Women’s Day (IWD) at the Vatican that showcased Catholic women leading social justice initiatives and/or who worked for Catholic institutions. The intention was to act as a wake-up call to the Catholic Church to invest in women, to recognise their potential, importance and expertise and to re-imagine what the future of the Church could look like if only women were more welcomed to its decision making structures.
Since 2014 an annual VOF IWD event has occurred, steadily growing and building on the VOF network and presence and allowing further conversations to happen between VOF and Vatican officials about their work.
2018 represents an exciting stage of growth for VOF as there is an opportunity to add further activities locally in Rome in order to build our presence, lead and coordinate strategic research on women’s leadership, gain new partnerships and grow our relationships inside the hierarchy.
Aim of the Role:
To build the presence of VOF in Rome and implement key initiatives that align with our strategic plan. The General Manager will have a major priority in leading and coordinating strategic research on women’s leadership and be a public face of the initiative locally in Rome and so must be able to talk with authority on the issue we are working towards. Other responsibilities include building a team to run local events and activities, growing our existing network and developing new relationships with local key stakeholders; Vatican employees, women’s groups, women religious orders, universities, schools and parishes.
