Overcoming Silence
In 2019 Voices of Faith launched a campaign to raise awareness of the need to have women in leadership positions in the Church and the canonical possibilities for this. On a dedicated website, we gathered the voices of people from all over the world, representing their understanding of this issue. Special educational materials explaining the structure of decision-making positions in the Vatican and the different models of governance were also prepared.
We also set three clear goals for the Catholic Church to begin promoting women to positions of influence: (1) women must have voting rights in future synods; (2) women must assume Vatican leadership roles; (3) an official process of change to bring women to leadership roles at all levels in the Catholic Church must be implemented.
